Biggg update!

Currently updating my blog from noam's iPhone, we only have one laptop so it will be pretty hard for me to update this a lot. Also sorry for the grammar etc mistakes, you guys know how hard it is to use touchscreen keyboards.

So saturday, Sunday , and Monday were orientation in providence, RI, staying in Brown's Hillel. Did a lot of getting to know people, had presentations about rules and conduct at host sites, had a bike handling class and practice ride and class on bike maintenance, safety presentation, affordable housing presentation, presentation from the president of providence's habitat chapter, a bike and build presentation explaining everything about the organization, and a REALLY interesting presentation from a former bnb leader about leadership. Also we spent a day building - mostly painting - a habitat house in providence. Interesting fact: by the end of our trip, my group of 30 will have donated at least $65,000 to affordable housing organizations across the country!

Tuesday was our first ride day, we did forty miles, not too bad. Our host church in Pomfret Conn was supernice, cooked us dinner, dessert, and breakfast. Leaders made a presentation to congregation members, we enjoyed showers at the crazy affluent Pomfret school across the street. Also we painted our van's trailer and it looks awesome, when I have a real computer I'll put pictures up. Also I won a cool biking hat from a different charity from a congregation member who appreciated some of Noam and my weirder fundraising methods ( read previous blog entries...).

Today was a pretty neat 60-something-mile ride, the first half was really hard, the hills were there the whole time, but I did hit 37.7 mph on one of the downhills! The second half was much more relaxed, started rainikmg at the end. Also my bike gears had a lot of cable problems that one of the leaders helped me fix for a LONG time. Fortunately I spent about an hour yesterday tuning up and cleaning everything else, so there weren't any other problems. Now we're clean and showered and enjoying snacks at granby First Congregational Church, and I'm about to make my first presentation!

Location:Granby, Connecticut
